Teddy South So it begins.

The title sounds very ominous but its really just a little note to initiate my LARPdom :D So basically, i ordered a sword from characterkit.com (very good site, lots of variety, and courtious service.) about 4 days ago, and it arrived today, in all it's shiney latex glory. So i'm on my way to getting the bare bones of my character down. :) For those of you who don't know what my character is like, I've been trying to keep him as openended as possible so i can transfer him to different systems wh… Continue

Megan Irvine Training swords and knives

We've been using the Cold Steel training knives for airsoft games that allow melee kills, and they're great for CQB training, but we also have some of the new training swords that Cold Steel just came out with, too. They are designed for martial arts training, but I think they would make great props for LARPs and cosplay. Check out this video: We currently have the Hand-and-a-Half Sword, and the training dagger in stock, in addition to all the different styles of training kniv… Continue

Ogunshi A bit about LARP I wrote for some people

Well let's start off with the video that everyone seems to have seen at one time of another. A bunch of people in a forest throwing bean bags abd screaming "Lightning Bolt" and "Sleep" at a person fressed in a bad giant costume and grunting. As a piece of footage to poke fun of, it does wonders. To explain LARP all but totally fails to give any clue as to what it is or why it is even done in the first place. People look at it and believe that what is shown is all LARP is. That is not the case. W… Continue

DeAnna Ross XPOSTED - Character Creation. Making More than a Sheet.

from: http://vampire-the-masquerade.ning.com/profiles/blogs/game-organizers-blog-character Making a character is perhaps the funnest and most difficult thing you're going to do in order to get started as a player here at Vampire the Masquerade by Madhatterrgames.com Why it's fun is pretty obvious, you get to creatively design a fictional life that you'll never really get the joy (or horror… Continue

DeAnna Ross What Makes Our Vampire the Masquerade LARP Different

Cross-posted from my blog at: http://vampire-the-masquerade.ning.com ) Well, It's late and the baby is asleep so I figured I'd take a moment to relax and try to work on my Vampire the Masquerade LARP some – that also means this may ramble on a bit so, bear with me (lol). Working on our Vampire the Masquerade LARP is what I've been doing every free moment I have for about the last month or so and I have to say that I wasn't too… Continue

Julie Solus Kickoff Action Report

To see pictures from the events, click here! It's only been 3 days since the Blackout started and already violence is erupting as hungry people begin to get desperate. Some of the operators had been on their way to a camping weekend just outside the small town of Loyalhanna for a survival training course when their car shut off and they were forced to hike the rest of the way on foot, turning a survival training test into the re… Continue

Zeiser Personal skills

Alright. So LARP is new to me and so on. (talking to myself here) Anyways, all things considered I need to think of something that could use my skill set... kind of. That probably makes no sense what so ever. But LARP sounds a whole hell of a lot of fun. Considering the only things I do for fun is reading palms and Tarot Card readings for friends. OH I also do photography and get paid pretty well for some stuff I do. Hired here and there... woot. But ya all around LARP would be something bett… Continue

Lianna Gaia Babeli Star Wars LARP in Minnesota (MN)

Greetings to All, Thank you for letting me join the LARP Network. I am planning and designing my own custom Star Wars LARP (Live Action Role Play) game in my state. I am going to be using the Saga Edition game mechanics for this as there is no official Star Wars LARP system in use. I thought it would be appropriate, then, to see if anyone might be interested or if they knew anyone who would. I currently am living in Minnesota, planning on organizing this LARP in the Minneapolis/St. Paul/Twin… Continue

Maria "My" German Larp - characteristics

Shameless copy of a post I made in Shade's forum while discussing differences between "my larp" and American boffer larp - might be interesting for those of you who only know German larp through Youtube trailers of the 'Big Three' (i.e. large events like the Drachenfest, Conquest of Mythodea or Epic Empires). Keep in mind that the German scene is quite big and diverse and that most of my points only describe run-of-the-mill fantasy-adventure style larps - the ones that I know... I am al… Continue

Monkey Rogue Confessions of a Newbie

After much hard work, and way more patience than I deserve to have, my wife and I finally moved out to Dallas. I have a great job, I hate the traffic, but I am adjusting. I hooked up with my friend here who plays NERO and so far it has been a positive experience. Not because I love the rules or anything mind you, but because the group is incredibly nice. (For those who care it's Epic Nero, a North Dallas chapter that is in something of a flux stage at the moment it appears. I don't have an expe… Continue

Dakkar A (Personal) History of LARPing

Although it certainly does not feel like it, it was 7 years ago that I first encountered the strange world of Live Action Role Playing. Beforehand, I had limited RP experience, only having played D&D casually with a couple friends and sampling an online MUD. But a friend invited me to come to a special feast event for a LARP group called Stygian Dreams, thinking that I would be interested. I must say that it took a while to convince my father that these people weren't satanic or homicidal in… Continue
